About the Herbalist

Originally from New Jersey, Lauren Buyofsky, M.S., moved to D Acres of New Hampshire, an organic farm and educational homestead located in the White Mountains region of New Hampshire, in 2007 after spending the prior three years on the New Hampshire seacoast.  Having been fascinated with the natural world since an early age, Lauren now holds a B.S. degree in Environmental Studies from The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey and a M.S. degree in Natural Resources, with a concentration in Water Resources, from the University of New Hampshire.  During her time at UNH, Lauren played a significant role in the development of the UNH Organic Garden Club and their 2-acre campus community organic farm.

In her role as Farm Manager at D Acres, Lauren focuses on bringing together her ecological background and connection with plant spirit medicine to further develop the D Acres sustainable farm system.  In teaching workshops, leading plant walks, and serving as a conscious member of the community, Lauren hopes to assist in reconnecting the human spirit to the gifts of food and medicine graciously offered to us by the Earth.

A certified herbalist and Usui Reiki practitioner, Lauren is the founding owner of Wise River Herbals. Lauren received her herbalist certification after completing an apprenticeship with Ms. Wendy Fogg, owner and Senior Herbalist at Misty Meadows Herbal Center in Lee, New Hampshire.  Through 2008, Lauren will participate in Rosemary Gladstar's Advanced Herbal Training Program at Sage Mountain  in East Barre, VT.

In addition to her love of plants, Lauren has been an equestrian since childhood.  She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Equine Protection of North America, and she rides and trains Steelen Showtime II (a.k.a. "Showtime"), a six year old Arabian stallion, at Phase II Show and Sport Horse Ranch in Rumney, NH.  Lauren also enjoys writing poetry that reflects her spiritual connection to the natural world and beyond, and can often be found spending time in the northern forest with her partner, Bill, and their Siberian husky, Dakota.
